Project/Program Overview
The Platforms team is part of engineering support services and is responsible for designing, integrating, and qualifying communication system installations in a variety of platforms (such as the vehicle, static and soldier platforms). The Platforms team works closely with System Engineering and other specialty groups to implement communication systems in platforms for a variety of customers including the department of the national defense (DND). The Platforms team is comprised of system designers (Platforms System Engineers) and system integration / qualification verification (Platforms SI/QV) personnel. The Platforms System Engineers are responsible for the design of the system, whereas the Platforms SI/QV deal with the implementation and qualification of the system.
Responsibilities:
As a member of the Platforms Team, the Platforms System Engineer will be responsible for installation designs of C4ISR systems into military land platforms. The main duties of the Intermediate Platforms System Engineer include:
- Development of test cases or use cases based on operational concepts and stakeholder input
- Contribute to the development of quality requirements for products or subsystems specifications
- Perform system designs for a variety of land platforms based on requirements
- Participate and contributes to cross disciplinary Integrated Product Teams
- Perform technical analysis and create documentation for trade studies, technical papers, and interface control or design documents.
- Leads technical peer reviews by applying engineering knowledge and problem solving techniques.
- Initiate integrating activities with System Integration and Development teams to enable comprehensive solutions.
- Solve problems by parsing the problem, examining options, gathering appropriate data and performing analytical assessments
- Explain and document technical analysis, assumptions, conclusions and recommendations.
- Conduct power budget analysis on Direct Current (DC) and Alternating Current (AC) equipment loads.
- Create cable running sheets for platform harnesses and participate in reviews of cable designs
- Display professional conduct in all meetings, activities and customer events.
Education/Training: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related technical/scientific degree.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5+ years of related experience
- Able to apply problem solving skills to daily activities
- Strong communications abilities, both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of commonly used interfaces for communication systems including Ethernet, serial, and RF interfaces.
