JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Land Command Support System (LCSS) is often referred to as a “System of Systems”, indicative of its breadth, complexity and the diversity of solutions incorporated. This system provides critical communication capabilities for the Canadian Army’s tactical network. PTI as a subcontractor to GDMS-C plays a key role in the architecture and design of the System as well as the integration and testing, on behalf of DND.

The area of focus for this role will be centered around information management and communication systems consisting of common operation picture, email, chat, other IT services and battle management. As a System Engineer with our team you will directly contribute to key system design decisions impacting the capabilities.

To give you an idea of how this flexible role (Hybrid) would look and feel, here are some of the things you could expect to do:

  • Define and document capabilities in the form of Capability Descriptions and Scope Statements, Concept of Operations, and Operational and Functional Use Cases based on the Vision of the Canadian customer and the needs of the end user
  • Work with the customer to elicit requirements on system capabilities
  • Review/elicit existing system designs and produce new designs in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Provide guidance and support to the Software Development and Integration & Test teams
  • Provide gap analysis and make suggestions for improvement
  • Provide support, guidance and recommendations to the stakeholder community (including DND, the Canadian Army and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs))
  • Support and present at meetings with internal teams
  • Support the development and execution of engineering plans, process and schedules
  • Assume responsibility, ownership, and accountability for deliverables and work products and milestones

Education & Experience

  • 5 years System Engineering experience
  • Experience in requirements development and system design
  • Experience and working knowledge of systems engineering tools including team collaboration tools
  • An understanding of Battlefield Management tools
  • Demonstrated initiative and strong communications skills
  • Demonstrated capability of meeting commitments and delivering high quality work products
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or applicable scientific discipline is required.

Other

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
