JOB DESCRIPTION:

As part of the SI&V team you will initialize, configure, and test the system to verify the functions and core capabilities to ensure that the system can be built up reliably and consistently. You will be responsible for test planning, definition, execution, reporting, lab setup deployment, and configuration activities. You will be working with a multidisciplinary engineering team to deliver a fully integrated tactical network, capable of providing flexible, multi-role and combat-capable communications.

Your day to day in more detail:

  • Assist in planning and coordinating test activities
  • Develop communications / system management plans and network configurations
  • Develop integration and test plans and procedures, including configuration descriptions and expected outcomes, in accordance with the design documents
  • Execute formal and informal integration and test procedures, gather and analyze data, and prepare integration and test reports.
  • Build, configure, and validate test environments.
  • Perform investigations and debugging of issues identified during testing and field exercises
  • Work closely with the SE team to define requirements, develop and review use cases and system level design.
  • Peer review system requirements of design materials, interface definitions, test cases, and reports.
  • Develop and maintain automated test tools.
  • Support external test events and field trials.
  • Prepare and deliver customer-facing test proposals and plans for new work.
  • Engage with customer representatives, vendors and other department staff.
  • Prepare status reports to communicate progress internally and externally.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor of Engineering, Applied Science or applicable degree
  • Strong communications skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including: Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in the investigation, analysis, and resolution of complex system issues. With the ability to understand the interdependencies and interactions between subsystems.
  • Knowledge of and experience with test engineering.
  • Strong problem solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to describe technical subject material to non-technical individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to change.

Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
