JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a highly motivated, skilled, & experienced Collaboration & System Administration (CaSA) Team Systems Engineer to join the existing HQ CaSA team to support the Canadian Department of National Defence’s Land Command Support System (LCSS). Within LCSS HQ, the CaSA Team focusses on a wide range of servers, data terminals, and software products that support collaboration and system administration such as domain controllers, file and print servers, SharePoint, System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), and Microsoft licensing models.

Responsibilities

You will work closely with other members of the CaSA team, other internal engineering teams, and our customer and industry partner stakeholders to identify gaps and areas of potential improvement within existing capabilities. Based on end user needs and customer feedback, you will define and document design descriptions, scope statements, concept of operations, operational and functional use cases. Through use cases and analysis, you will present this information to the customer with a recommended solution.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Provide support, guidance, and recommendations to the stakeholder community (including DND, the Canadian Army and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs)), including presentations.
  • Provide guidance to the System Integration and Verification (SI&V) Team including review of test cases, resolution of test discrepancies and analysis of test results.
  • Provide guidance and support to product teams for the implementation and revision of capabilities.
  • Development of Systems level documentation such as Design Specifications, Requirements Documentation, etc.
  • Support the development and execution of engineering plans, processes, and schedules.
  • Assume responsibility, ownership, and accountability for deliverables and work products.
  • Assume accountability for the quality of deliverables and work products.
  • Assume responsibility and accountability for meeting program commitments and achieving program milestones.

Essential Skills:

  • Experience and working knowledge of systems engineering processes and product lifecycles.
  • In-depth knowledge of SharePoint with the ability to set, configure, and administer SharePoint.
  • Experience in requirements development and system design.
  • Demonstrated initiative with the ability to effectively communicate ideas and concepts.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment, with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated capability of meeting commitments and delivering high quality work products, with attention to details.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or applicable scientific discipline is required.
  • Minimum 5 years System Engineering experience.

Assets:

  • A working knowledge of:
    • Microsoft licensing models.
    • Active directory.
    • Microsoft Server configuration and set up.
    • System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)/EndPoint Configuration Manager
  • Experience in analyzing Operational Requirements and performing Gap Analysis.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment, or an understanding of Agile methodologies.

Required:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements in order to gain access to technical data, classified areas, and/or information that is subject to international regulations.
  • Must reside in the Greater Ottawa Region.
  • Must be able to work a hybrid schedule and be available to work onsite as and when needed.
