JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Canadian Army’s tactical network used within their vehicles and headquarters (HQ) is called the Land Command Support System (LCSS). This network enables the command, control and communication which are essential capabilities for Canada’s Army.  The LCSS is often referred to as a “System of Systems”, indicative of its breadth, complexity and the diversity of solutions incorporated.  Platinum Technologies Inc. contracting through through GDMS-C plays a key role in the architecture and design of the System as well as the integration and testing, on behalf of DND.

Platinum Technologies Inc. is seeking a skilled and motivated individual who will directly contribute to key system design decisions impacting the capabilities LCSS HQ provides Canada’s Army in support of their domestic or international operations and deployments. The selected candidate will achieve this through close interactions with other GDMS-C engineering teams as well as with DND.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Define and Document LCSS HQ Capabilities in the form of Capability Descriptions and Scope Statements, Concept of Operations and Operational Use Cases based on the Vision of the Canadian Customer and the needs of the end user
  • Work with the DND and the Canadian Army to elicit requirements on LCSS HQ Capabilities
  • Provide guidance and support to the development teams for the implementation and revision of capabilities within LCSS HQ
  • Identify gaps and areas of potential improvement with existing LCSS HQ domain required to support the end user
  • Provide support, guidance and recommendations to the stakeholder community (including DND, the Canadian Army and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs))
  • Provide guidance and support to the LCSS HQ Integration and Test Team including review of test cases, resolution of test discrepancies and analysis of test results
  • Support and present at meetings with internal (GDMS-C) stakeholders as well as with the stakeholder community
  • Support the development and execution of engineering plans, process and schedules
  • Assume responsibility, ownership, and accountability for deliverables and work products
  • Assume accountability for the quality of deliverables and work products
  • Assume responsibility and accountability for meeting program commitments and achieving program milestones

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 3-5 years System Engineering experience
  • Experience in requirements development and system design
  • Experience and working knowledge of systems engineering tools including DOORS, and Team collaboration tools
  • Demonstrated initiative and strong verbal and written communications skills
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment, with minimum supervision
  • Demonstrated capability of conducting technical analysis and documenting and communicating the results
  • Demonstrated capability of meeting commitments and delivering high quality work product

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or applicable scientific discipline is required.

OTHER

Applicants will be required to obtain/hold a valid and current Canadian security clearance to gain access to the classified spaces, information and equipment in order to perform the work associated with this position which requires a minimum 10 year consecutive residence in Canada.

This position follows a Hybrid working model, a mix of at home and on-site work, with a minimum of three days a week on-site.
